3.56 GPA Highest Among North Texas Sports
DENTON – The North Texas volleyball team continued to excel in the classroom in the fall semester, finishing with a 3.56 combined grade-point average, highest among all sports at North Texas.
Four student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall. Senior Amy Henard was selected to Conference USA’s InTouch Credit Union All-Academic team.
“I’m proud that our players were able to put together another great academic semester,” head coach Andrew Palileo said. “They held each other accountable throughout the season and understand the expectations we as a staff have and what the players have for each other.”
Academically, North Texas entered the year having earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (ACVA) Team Award for the sixth-consecutive year and the fourth under coach Palileo.
The AVCA presents the award to collegiate and high school programs that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a scale of 4.0 or 4.1 on a scale of 5.0. The 2015-16 squad combined for a 3.63 grade-point average.
The volleyball team also secured the 2015-16 G.R.E.E.N. Cup presented by the athletic department. Teams are awarded points for athletic and academic success as well as its community service, attendance at other sports events and participating in student-athlete advisory committee or the CHAMPS program.
