DENTON, Texas – After advancing to the finals for the first time in school history the North Texas volleyball team placed two players, Carnae Dillard and Courtney Windham, on the All-Sun Belt Tournament team – a first for the Mean Green in the Sun Belt era.
North Texas has now placed at least one player on the All-SBC Tournament team in each of the last three years. Dillard and Windham join Corina Marginas (2003), Brittany Gregory (2006), Amy Huddleston (2010) and Eboni Godfrey (2011) as the only NT players to ever be selected to an SBC All-Tourney team.
Dillard, the SBC Freshman of the Year, joined Windham as the only NT duo to ever be named to a first-team all-conference in the same year.
Dillard averaged an astonishing 6.45 kills per set on .257 hitting, 2.73 digs and .64 blocks per set in the three matches of the SBC Tourney. Her 31 kills in the semifinal win over Troy were just short of the tournament record of 33 kills.
Windham was a wall for the Mean Green, averaging 1.18 blocks per set while pounding opponents with 2.91 kills per set.
At 25, NT already has the second-most wins in school history, and it has the opportunity to tie the 1977 squad for the school record at SMU on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
