DENTON, Texas (11/17/09) - North Texas took UALR to five sets and held them to .129 hitting, but couldn't get past the Trojans. As a result, the Mean Green enters the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed. NT draws a tough top-seeded Florida International squad in its first-round matchup.
The Golden Panthers have lost just two matches this year; a sweep at No. 10 Kentucky and a four-setter to No. 15 Florida State. Action from Bowling Green, Ky., is slated to begin at noon on Thursday. Despite losing the regular season finale at UALR in five sets, the North Texas volleyball team will make its return to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed. North Texas will take on the top seeded Florida International Golden Panthers, winners of 21 straight matches, on Thursday at noon.
Amy Huddleston reached kill number 410 this weekend, making her just the 11th player in Mean Green history to reach the 400 kill plateau. Her total of 410 ranks 9th in program history, and her 1,151 attacks ranks 8th. The junior is also working her way up the career charts. She already ranks 8th with 878 career kills, and her 2,358 attacks rank 9th.
North Texas has had luck against the Golden Panthers (28-2) in seasons past. Despite falling to FIU earlier this year in Denton, North Texas knocked off FIU in their previous two trips to the Mean Green Volleyball Center.
