DENTON (11/16/05) -- North Texas volleyball sophomore outside hitter Katy Prokof was named 2005 All-Sun Belt Conference as a second-team selection on Wednesday, one day before the Mean Green opens play in the league tournament as the No. 5 seed.
Prokof finished the regular season with a career-high 378 and kills and is trying to become the 11th player in school history to record 400 kills in a single season. She has also recorded 290 digs, 46 blocks, 19 assists and 17 service aces this year. Her 290 digs are the second most on the team.
Prokof ranked tied for seventh in the Sun Belt in kills for league matches only, finishing the year with 3.81 per game.
The Waxahachie, Texas, native posted a team-best nine double-doubles on the season, recorded double-digit kills in 21 matches and double-digit digs in 12 outings. Prokof led the team in kills 18 matches and tallied at least 20 kills three different times.
A first-time selection to the all-conference team, Prokof posted career highs of 24 kills and 22 digs this year. She also tied her career highs for aces (3) and blocks (4).
