Quick Hits:

  • The Mean Green is hot off an upset of conference powerhouse UTSA in three sets on Thursday night. The loss was the Roadrunner's first in Conference USA play since October 13, 2013, breaking a 22 match C-USA win streak.
  • Since falling in an upset to Charlotte at home on October 17, North Texas has rattled off eight consecutive wins (including four straight at home), the longest streak of 2014.
  • North Texas has won 24 of the last 27 sets played, sweeping six of the last eight matches and four consecutive. The Mean Green has won 13 straight sets and has yet to have dropped a set in the month of November.
  • Reigning AVCA National Player of the Week Carnae Dillard has recorded 20+ kills in each of her last four matches to lead the Mean Green offensive performance.
  • The Mean Green, after defeating three straight NCAA RPI Top 100 teams (at Rice, vs. TCU, vs. UTSA), is looking to go 9-2 against Division I volleyball programs in the state of Texas in 2014. North Texas won the first three matches of a four game Lone Star State series to close out the season, with only the Miners left to go in the season finale.
  • UTEP has a slight 7-5 advantage in the all-time series with North Texas that dates back to 1981. However, the Mean Green have taken the last three matches from the Miners, including a narrow five set thriller in El Paso to open up Conference USA play earlier this season.
  • North Texas has now played itself into a scenario that could land them the #3 Seed in the Conference USA Tournament. After Southern Miss fell victim to an upset by UAB tonight, the Mean Green just needs to take care of business against UTEP and Rice to fall to UTSA at home in order to take the No. 3 seed. With a victory over UTEP, the worst North Texas can finish is fourth in the final Conference USA regular season standings.
