Volleyball's Holly Milam Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week
Milam Helped Mean Green Secure Tournament Berth
DENTON – North Texas volleyball’s Holly Milam earned her first career Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week selection, announced by the conference office Monday.
Milam had a career weekend, registering 40 kills in the Mean Green’s two matches, good for a 4.44 kills per-set average and the most she has tallied in back-to-back matches in her career.
"We as a staff are excited for Holly," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "She has been working really hard trying to improve her game and I am proud to see that she has been rewarded for the time and hard work she has put in to get to this point."
She had 18 kills last Friday versus Marshall and 22 on Sunday versus Louisiana Tech, helping the Mean Green clinch their fourth-consecutive C-USA tournament berth. The 22 kills versus LA Tech marked a career high for the junior.
She pushed her streak to eight-consecutive matches with 10 or more kills, and recorded a respectable .296 attack average in the two matches.
On the season, Milam has 257 kills, with 162 of those coming in conference action. She is 17 kills away from tying her season best mark from a year ago.
In addition to her offensive dominance this weekend, Milam tallied 14 digs and two blocks on defense.
