Quick Hits:

  • Since falling in an upset to Charlotte at home on October 17, North Texas has rattled off five consecutive wins, the second longest streak of 2014. The Mean Green won seven straight matches in the first month of the season.
  • With the 3-0 sweep of UAB on the road on Sunday, North Texas booked its ticket to the Conference USA Tournament for the second straight year. This is the Mean Green's second year of play in C-USA, both of which with Andrew Palileo at the helm.
  • Currently, the Mean Green sits in a tie with Florida Atlantic for fifth in the Conference USA standings. If the season ended today, North Texas would enter postseason play as the fifth seed, as the Mean Green hold the tiebreaker with a 3-1 head-to-head win over FAU this season. Rule changes to the championship format for 2014 find only the top eight teams qualifying for a spot in the postseason. In the C-USA preseason poll, North Texas was picked fourth while Rice was projected to finish just ahead at the 3rd slot, where they currently sit.
  • After stealing a win away from North Texas in Denton earlier this season, the Owls extended their all-time series lead to 8-3. However, the Mean Green knocked off Rice on the road at Tudor Fieldhouse by a score of 3-1 back in 2013. It was the first time the Mean Green defeated Rice since 1997.
  • Junior outside hitter Carnae Dillard, after recording her 18th double-double of the season to move into a tie for the NCAA lead, was rewarded by Conference USA with the week 10 offensive player of the week award. The honor was her third of the 2014 season.
