DENTON - Riding a 10-match win streak, the North Texas volleyball team embarks on its final roadtrip of the regular season to take on Marshall at 7 p.m. Friday and Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The program has an all-time win percentage of .500 against both schools, with a 3-3 record against the Thundering Herd and a 12-12 record against the Lady Techsters. The Mean Green (22-2, 9-1 C-USA) swept LA Tech, 3-0, on Oct. 1 at home and lost their last meeting with Marshall, 3-2, in Denton last fall.

Aces Help Mean Green Sweep Louisiana Tech
Henrianna Ibarra's four aces propelled the North Texas volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-15) victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon.

North Texas is coming off a pair of crucial conference victories over Rice and Southern Mississippi, improving their league record to 9-1, matching the program's best start to conference play and regaining sole possession of second place in the league standings. A win on Friday would break the record for best conference start, set by the 2002 squad.

Prior to last weekend, the Mean Green were unable to limit some of C-USA's top performers, but the Mean Green held Rice's Nicole Lennon and Southern Miss' Kylie Grandy below their per-set averages in kills. North Texas will look to continue this trend against Marshall's Jac'cara Walker, who ranks second in the conference in kills per set (3.99).

Aces were the name of the game for the Mean Green in their previous matchup with LA Tech last month. Freshman libero Henrianna Ibarra posted a career-high four aces, accounting for half of the team's eight aces in the match. While North Texas has allowed just over 12 kills per set this season, the team excelled defensively against the Lady Techsters, allowing just 29 kills (9.67 per set).

Two Mean Green players earned Player of the Week honors as junior setter Karley York was named the league's Setter of the Week, and outside hitter Barbara Teakell was tabbed Freshman of the Week. It marks the second time in three weeks that the duo made the weekly award list after North Texas had three players honored on Oct. 16.

York combined for 111 assists over the weekend, recording back-to-back 50-assist matches to extend her streak to five matches. She became the sixth North Texas setter to reach 2,000 career assists (2,074) and the 11th to compile 1,000 assists (1,032) in a single season.

Teakell set a single-match career high with 21 kills against the Owls, her second 20-kill performance in three matches. She led the team in kills in both matches, totaling 38 for the weekend at a .366 clip.
