DENTON (11/1/04) -- North Texas freshman libero Jessica Hulsebosch (Spring, Tex.) was named the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday after leading North Texas defensively in back-to-back road victories over New Orleans and South Alabama.
Hulsebosch, who already has the most digs ever by a North Texas freshman, recorded double-figure digs in three matches last week. She posted 19 against both TCU and South Alabama and 22 at New Orleans, marking the fourth time this season she has eclipsed 20 digs. For the entire week, the freshman standout averaged five digs per game.
She also moved into eighth place on the North Texas single-season digs list with 339 to her credit and brought her season average to 4.08 digs per game, which is the sixth best in the Sun Belt Conference.
Hulsebosch was also named the SBC’s Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 4 after tying the school record for digs in a match with 33 against Denver.
