DENVER (10/28/08) Sarah Willey led four Mean Green volleyball players with at least seven digs, but it wasn’t enough in a 3-0 loss to Denver on Tuesday night (25-17, 25-18, 26-24).
In all, 10 different North Texas (4-20, 2-9 Sun Belt West) players registered digs, led by Willey’s match-high 14. The Pioneers (20-4, 9-2) posted a 43-29 edge in kills and held the Mean Green to a .114 attack percentage on the night.
Denver controlled the first two sets, but the Mean Green came to play in the third frame. Amy Huddleston tied the match at 24 apiece, but a DU kill and block sealed the match for the Pioneers.
Huddleston and Roxana Casvean continued to provide the Mean Green offense. The combo added eight kills each, while Marelle Lepmets dished out 22 assists. Huddleston also got in on a match-high four blocks.
The trip to Denver is the first match of six consecutive road contests, which is the longest in school history. The Mean Green head to Arkansas this weekend to take on UALR and Arkansas State.
