Hulsebosch Sets Record As Mean Green Wins Sixth Straight

Box Score

DENTON (10/22/06) Jessica Hulsebosch broke her own single-season digs record at North Texas as the Mean Green picked up its sixth straight win Sunday by sweeping South Alabama (30-24, 30-21, 30-15).  North Texas (17-10, 8-3) now sits in sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt Western division.

Hulsebosch entered the match needing only four digs to break her single-season mark (533) set in 2005. She made the most of her chances on the back line finishing with six digs on the afternoon.

The six-match winning streak is the longest for the Mean Green since 2003 and the eight conference wins already matches the total from 2005.

South Alabama (5-19, 0-12) was swept for the tenth time in conference play.

The Mean Green started off slowly, but gained momentum as the match went on and closed out the match in convincing fashion for the second straight match.

North Texas eliminated errors in each game while the Jaguars finished with a negative attack percentage in two of the three games.

Katy Prokof posted her team-high eighth double-double of the year by finishing with 11 kills and 17 digs, only one dig shy of her season best. Tara Hooser and Catherine Coffey each finished with double-figure kills, while Ashley Bass had one of her finest performances of the season with 43 assists in the three-game match.

Brittney Gregory continues to post solid numbers as she finished with seven kill on only 15 attacks.

The Mean Green will immediately hit the road to face Denver at Hamilton Gym on Monday. The Pioneers have won their last four matches and have also handed Western Kentucky their only loss of the season.
