LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (10/22/04) -- The North Texas volleyball team (4-16, 3-5) dropped a 3-0 (25-30, 25-30, 30-30) decision to Arkansas-Little Rock (10-9, 4-4) on Friday at Trojan Field House in a Sun Belt Conference cross-divisional match.
North Texas hit .032 in comparison to UALR’s .195 attack percentage and gave up 13 more kills and five more blocks to the Trojans, which won their third consecutive match.
NT hit a team-high .128 in the first game and had the score tied 15-15 before UALR went on a 10-5 run to take command. The Mean Green battled the Trojans to an 18-18 tie in the second game, but the Trojans again took command with an 8-3 run. The Mean Green hit -.024 in the final game as UALR was able to pin NT with a 10-point setback.
North Texas was led by Anne Pope with 11 kills, marking the fifth time this season the senior middle blocker has recorded double-figure kills. Pope was followed by Brittney Gregory and Tara Hooser with seven kills each. Gregory now has 994 career kills, leaving her just six shy of becoming the third player in school history to record 1,000 kills in a career.
North Texas will close out this week’s play on Saturday at Arkansas State in a 7 p.m. match.
