DENTON, Texas (10/19/07) - With wins in four of its last five matches, the North Texas volleyball has the opportunity to climb into the driver seat of the Sun Belt West this weekend at Troy and South Alabama and at home versus division leader Denver on Monday.
Only two matches behind the Pioneers in the SBC standings, the Mean Green has an all-time 23-9 record against this week’s competition, including a 3-0 mark against Troy.
North Texas kicks off the weekend on Friday at Troy, and then faces South Alabama on Saturday. Then NT heads back to the Mean Green Volleyball Center for Monday’s showdown with Denver. All three matches begin at 7 p.m.
What To Watch For
The Mean Green posted attack percentages of .234 and .235 last weekend against ULL and ULM, respectively, to improve to 8-0 this year when it hits over .200.
Perhaps in honor of Columbus day last week, setter Heather Maddox upped her career assist total to 1,492 against ULM on Sunday, good enough for seventh place in school history.
With 2,025 career digs to her credit, Jessica Hulsebosch is only 18 shy of second place in Sun Belt history.
Amy Huddleston’s offensive explosion against the Ragin’ Cajuns means that North Texas has six players with at least 100 kills on the season for only the seventh time in school history, and the fourth time in the Cassie Headrick era.
