MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (10/16/09) - A match-high 12 kills from Amy Huddleston wasn't enough for the North Texas volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 26-24) loss at Middle Tennessee.
The Blue Raiders (12-7, 5-1 Sun Belt) pelted the Mean Green (7-14, 3-4 Sun Belt) with .309 hitting to extend their winning streak over NT to four matches. MTSU is the second of three straight North Texas opponents to have played in last year's NCAA Tournament, a first in conference play in Mean Green history.
The Mean Green had an opportunity to extend the match to four sets. North Texas landed 19 kills in the third set and had MTSU on the ropes at 24-23, but a Blue Raider kill and a pair of NT attack errors closed the door.
Brittany Brown wasn't too far behind Huddleston's offensive output with eight kills. Roxana Casvean led the defensive efforts with nine digs.
The Mean Green will be back in action on Saturday night at Western Kentucky, which will be looking for a little revenge from last year's NT upset win in Denton. Tip off from Bowling Green is set for 7 p.m.
