BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (10/17/09) - The North Texas volleyball team's stretch of facing 2008 NCAA Tournament teams has finally come to and end with a 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-17, 25-11) loss at Western Kentucky.

The Hilltoppers (16-6, 5-2 Sun Belt), the defending Sun Belt champions, sent back 12 blocks in downing the Mean Green (7-15, 3-5). NT had faced three straight tourney teams in FIU, Middle Tennessee and WKU, the most ever by a North Texas squad in conference play.

Amy Huddleston once again paved the way for NT with 13 kills on .256 hitting. Brittani Youman wasn't far behind with 11 kills, and Roxana Casvean led the defensive effort with 12 digs.

Deadlocked at 16 apiece in the first set, Western Kentucky reeled off four straight points to gain control of the first set. Brittany Bowen ended the set with her fourth kill of the frame.

Kati Dillard's serve vaulted NT out to a 6-3 lead as the Mean Green cruised to a 25-18 second set victory. Four FAU attack errors and a kill from Brittany Brown finished the set for North Texas, which slammed home 12 kills on .345 hitting in the frame.

The Mean Green returns to action next weekend at South Alabama and Troy.
