Volleyball Returns Home For Two Conference USA Matches

DENTON – After a successful 2-1 road trip over the last two weeks, the North Texas volleyball team returns home for two Conference USA matches this weekend beginning on Friday versus UTEP at 7 p.m.
The Mean Green (9-11, 3-2 C-USA) are on a two-match winning streak and have won three of their last four matches. UTEP (4-14, 2-3 C-USA) has dropped three of its last four matches, and owns a 1-6 record in road matches.
Amanda Chamberlain continues to be the leader of the Mean Green offense. Her .387 attack percentage is good for second in Conference USA and the top mark on the team. She has raised her career attack percentage to .334, the highest in the history of North Texas volleyball.
Chamberlain has logged 10 or more kills in 11 of the 20 matches this season, and collected her 200th kill of the season versus UAB on Oct. 7. Chamberlain now has 555 kills as a member of the Mean Green.
Alexis Wright paced the Mean Green attack with 17 kills on Friday versus UAB. Her .652 attack percentage marked a season high. Wright has tallied 190 kills across 73 sets, a 2.60 kills per set average.
Sarah Villa anchors UTEP’s defense, averaging 5.31 digs per set, good for the top-spot in the conference. Macey Austin and Lindsey Larson pace the Miners’ offensive attack with 155 and 146 kills, respectively.
North Texas will complete this week’s competition versus Florida Atlantic on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Owls (9-10, 4-1) are on a four-match winning streak, and are tied for second in the C-USA standings with Marshall and Rice.
Maja Ristic, who earned C-USA All-Conference First Team honors a year ago, guides the Owls’ attack with 257 kills, good for a 3.47 kill per set average.
