DENTON (10/12/04) -- The North Texas volleyball team (4-14) dropped a 3-0 (22-30, 23-30, 26-30) decision to Stephen F. Austin (12-5) on Tuesday in a non-conference match at William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Stephen F. Austin recorded just one more kill and five more digs than North Texas, but hit .232 in comparison to the Mean Green’s .079 attack percentage and posted 15 blocks to NT’s six. While the Mean Green put up its best hitting percentage of the night in the final game, SFA countered with a .300 attack percentage and 21 kills to close out the match.
North Texas was led by freshman Katy Prokof with a match-high 13 kills and 10 digs. She recorded her third double-double of the season and reached double-figure kills for the eighth time this year. Brittney Gregory and Tara Hooser followed Prokof with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Heidi Johnson handed out a team-high 34 assists, while Jessica Hulsebosch paced the Mean Green defensively with a match-high 16 digs. Hulsebosch has now recorded at least 16 digs in each of NT’s last five outings.
Stephen F. Austin had three players record at least 10 kills, including Brittany Burton with a team-high 11.
The Mean Green will resume Sun Belt Conference play Saturday when it hosts Florida International in a 7 p.m. match.
