Mean Green Volleyball Hosting POWER IN PINK Sunday

DENTON, Texas (10/8/09) - Come out and watch the North Texas volleyball team land some kills for a good cause this weekend. The Mean Green takes on Florida Atlantic on Friday night, and will host FIU on Sunday for Under Armour POWER IN PINK Day.

A campaign to fight breast cancer, the Mean Green will support POWER IN PINK by donning special pink uniforms designed by Under Armour. All proceeds from sales of these jerseys, along with all donations, will go to national breast cancer charities.

North Texas nearly swept the Louisiana trio last weekend, but now turns its attention to the Sunshine State as Florida Atlantic and Florida International come to the Mean Green Volleyball Center.

The Golden Panthers boast the reigning two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week, Yarimar Rosa, and the best start in school history. At 15-2, FIU's only losses have been to ranked opponents. North Texas has knocked off the Golden Panther in each of their last two visits to the Denton.

Friday night's match tips off at 7 p.m., while Sunday afternoon's matinee starts 1 p.m.

Amy Huddleston averaged a double-double in leading the Mean Green to wins in two of their three outings last weekend. The junior landed 39 total kills (3.55 per set) and tallied 35 digs (3.18 per set), and was just one dig against New Orleans away from a double-double in all three matches.

Look out, you don't want to take the Mean Green to five sets. On a roll when the match is on the line lately, the Mean Green has now played in eight 5-set matches this season, picking up victories in each of the last four. In the fifth set of those four matches, NT hit .315 while forcing its opponents to .144 hitting and 17 attack errors.
