Mean Green Hit The Road To Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala – North Texas volleyball concludes its three match road trip with UAB Friday at 11:30 am. The Mean Green split the first two games of the trip with a loss at Texas San Antonio and a 3-0 win over Louisiana Tech.

The Mean Green (8-11, 2-2 C-USA) are tied for sixth place in Conference USA with Southern Miss, while the Blazers (8-11, 1-3 C-USA) are in eighth.

North Texas is in an opportune time of its schedule. With three of its next five opponents are ahead of them in standings. However, only one match will be at home.

Friday, the Mean Green take on a UAB team that has lost six of its last seven. Its lone victory was a 3-0 win at Charlotte. The Blazers top offensive players are Erika Zembyla, who averages 3.33 kills per set, and Haley Jared, who averages 2.94 kills per sets. The duo is the primary attack for the Blazers as they alone are responsible for 1,194 of their 2,474 attack attempts this season.

North Texas has been led by the attack of Amanda Chamberlain. The junior has posted an impressive .455 attack percentage over the last four matches and comes into Friday with a career-attack percentage of .322, which stands as second highest in program history. She entered the season with a .308 career percentage.2013 graduate Karissa Flack owns the top spot with a .330 percentage.

This will be just the fifth time these two schools have played. The series is tied 2-2. North Texas defeated the Blazers last season, 3-0.
