LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The North Texas volleyball team couldn’t contain the accurate attack of UALR in a 3-0 loss to the Trojans on Friday night (25-17, 25-19, 25-15).
UALR (8-12, 3-3 Sun Belt West) landed 46 kills on .333 hitting on the night, led by Edina Begic’s 12 kills. North Texas (10-10, 1-4 Sun Belt West) got a career-best 19 assists from May Allen, but managed just a .112 attack percentage in the loss – the team’s third straight.
Eboni Godfrey, the squad’s leading attacker on the year, proved NT’s best defender in Little Rock, racking up a team-best nine digs. Melanie Boykins posted seven kills on .417 hitting to go with her team-high two blocks.
Shelley Morton led the Mean Green offense with 10 kills for her fifth straight match in double figures. The senior hit .241 on 29 attacks, which was topped only by Begic’s 35 attempts.
The Trojans forced a sideout on 75 percent of NT’s serves, including a match-high 87 percent in the deciding third set.
North Texas returns to action at Arkansas State on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
