DENVER, Colo. (10/7/05) -- The North Texas volleyball team (8-12, 2-1) dropped a 30-19, 30-16, 30-27 decision to Denver (9-5, 3-0) on Friday at Hamilton Gymnasium in a Sun Belt Conference West Division match.
The Mean Green had a two match winning streak snapped and dropped its first league match of the season, while the Pioneers improved to 3-0 in conference action and took over sole possession of first place in the division.
North Texas hit a team-high .188 in the second game, but was unable to post an attack percentage above .000 in the first or third games. Denver posted at least a .179 hitting percentage in two of the three games, including a match-high .588 in the second contest. The Mean Green finished the match with 30 kills, while the Pioneers collected 53.
NT’s Katy Prokof recorded a team-high nine kills and was followed by Tara Hooser with eight. Hooser posted a team-high .278 attack percentage. Ashley Bass finished with 26 assists and seven digs, both team highs, while Catherine Coffey blocked a team-best six Denver attacks.
Denver had four players record double-figure kills on its way to the victory.
North Texas returns home for a Sun Belt Conference cross-divisional match against Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday at the Snake Pit. The match is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
