DENTON (10/7/04) The Mean Green volleyball team hosts two matches this weekend, starting with South Alabama on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Snake Pit.
The squad hosts two Sun Belt Conference West Division foes this weekend. NT will face South Alabama on Friday at 7 p.m. and New Orleans on Saturday at 1 p.m.
North Texas wrapped up a three-match road swing last week, splitting a pair of matches with Denver and New Mexico State. The Mean Green, which played just two of its first 15 matches at the Snake Pit, will play eight of its final 14 regular-season matches at home.
Junior middle blocker Brittney Gregory recorded a team-best 27 kills last week to give her 934 for her career and is just the fifth player in school history to record 900 or more kills in a career. Gregory is averaging a team-best 3.06 kills per game this season. There are currently two players in school history with at least 1,000 kills in Corina Marginas (2,211) and Jessica Brown (1,002).
North Texas is 2-0 at home this season and has now won five straight matches at the Snake Pit dating back to last season. While the Mean Green has played just two home matches in its first 15 outings, it will play at the Snake Pit in eight of its last 14 matches. The Mean Green went 10-3 at home last season and is 19-10 in home matches over the last three seasons.
