Engel Hopes To Serve Up Florida International Tonight

Game Notes

DENTON, Texas (10/5/07) Florida International can say something that no other Sun Belt volleyball team can boast. The Golden Panthers are the only conference opponent that Brooke Engel has never scored an ace against, and the senior is looking to change that tonight at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.

Engel already owns nearly every North Texas (5-13, 1-3) serving record, including the single season (123 aces in 2006) and career (193 total) marks, and the entire Sun Belt Conference has felt the fury of her serve everyone except FIU (11-2, 6-0).

The New Braunfels, Texas native currently leads the country with .95 aces per game after topping the country with .98 per game last year.

What To Watch For Tonight

North Texas is on the verge of having six players with 100 kills on the season for only the seventh time in school history Katy Prokof (173), Catherine Coffey (146), Brooke Engel (115), Amy Huddleston (98), Rachel Raley (97) and Eric Wendell (88).

A couple of notable streaks came to an end last weekend for the Mean Green. Western Kentucky snapped Jessica Hulsebosch’s school-record run of six straight matches with at least 20 digs, and Middle Tennessee ended Engel’s streak of 15 matches in a row with at least one service ace.

North Texas boasts a healthy .248 attack percentage in individual games that it wins. However, that percentage plummets to .055 in losses.
