North Texas, which entered the match tied with Denver and New Orleans for second place in the SBC’s West Division, improved to 2-1 in league play as it picked up its first road victory of the season. Led by Brittney Gregory with a season-high 19 kills, North Texas had a season-high five players finish with double-digit kills.
The Mean Green took the first two games off Denver before the Pioneers rallied to win the next two and force a fifth game. North Texas hit .222 for the entire match, but posted its best percentage of the night in the fifth game at .500. While Denver finished the match with a higher overall attack percentage than the Mean Green, it hit just .056 in the deciding game.
NT completed the match with 74 kills, 203 attacks and 67 assists, all season highs. NT also collected 77 digs, tying its most of the season. The match marked just the second five-game contest of the season for the Mean Green, which is now 1-1 in those outings.

Freshman libero Jessica Hulsebosch had the best defensive night ever by a North Texas freshman, tying the school record for single-match digs with 33. Her 33 digs are the second most by a Sun Belt Conference player this season and she is the first North Texas freshman to ever record 30 or more digs in a match.
The Mean Green will close out a three-match road swing on Sunday in another Sun Belt West Division contest at New Mexico State. Sunday’s match is set to get underway at 2 p.m. (CST).
