North Texas Volleyball Punches Tournament Ticket With 3-1 Victory
The North Texas volleyball team punched its ticket to the Conference USA tournament with a 3-1 victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon at the North Texas Volleyball Center.

DENTON - The North Texas volleyball team begins a four-game homestand against Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Wednesday before hosting its first home Conference USA matches on Friday and Sunday.

The Mean Green (13-2) face UT San Antonio at 7 p.m. Friday and Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. Sunday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as above-average attendances are expected for all three matches. Capacity at the North Texas Volleyball Center is 700, which includes standing-room only tickets.

North Texas is 9-18 all-time against the Sooners. In their last meeting, the Mean Green outlasted OU in five sets in the 2015 Oklahoma Tournament. The Mean Green trail in their respective series' with UTSA (9-17) and Louisiana Tech (11-12).

UNT went 1-1 in its first weekend of C-USA play. Alexis Wright's season-high 19 kills were not enough to hold off Southern Mississippi in a five-set thriller, but North Texas bounced back on Sunday in a straight-set victory over Florida International in Miami, led by Holly Milam's 11 kills and three blocks.

Match One: vs. Oklahoma (3-11, 0-2 Big 12)

The Sooners enter the midweek matchup having lost six in a row, including their first two conference matches. Junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking leads the team and ranks third in the Big 12 in kills per set (4.17) and points per set (4.57). However, the team ranks dead last in the conference in hitting percentage (.188), opponent hitting percentage (.241), assists per set (11.83), kills per set (12.42) and aces per set (0.77).

Match Two: vs. UTSA (3-10, 1-0 C-USA)

After starting 0-8, the Roadrunners have won three of their last five. Sophomore outside hitter Brianna McCulloch paces the team with 196 kills and ranks second in digs (131). The Mean Green, who rank fourth in the nation in assists per set (13.92), face a UTSA team that allows a conference-worst 12.37 assists per set.

Match Three: vs. Louisiana Tech (5-10, 0-1 C-USA)

Louisiana Tech has dropped four of their last five matches, including a 3-1 loss in its conference opener against Rice on Sunday. The team's biggest weapon is senior outside hitter Marta Monne, who has a team-high 148 kills and 155 digs. Louisiana Tech comes in with C-USA's worst hitting percentage at .167.
