North Texas Volleyball Opens Conference USA Road Slate
Mean Green Will Visit UTEP and UTSA In Weekend Trip Away From Home
DENTON - With the conclusion of Tuesday night’s match against Baylor, the North Texas volleyball team immediately turned its sights to this weekend, where the Mean Green prepares to open its conference road slate. North Texas will take on UTEP on Friday at 7 p.m. CT from Memorial Gym before catching a flight south to duel with UTSA at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday from the Convocation Center.
The Mean Green enters the weekend having gone 8-7 in non-conference play. That record includes an impressive win over Oklahoma, but North Texas also dropped four matches in three-set sweeps. One thing is for sure - it will be a new team making the trip across the Lone Star State.
After starting 5-6 on the year, North Texas was able to win four straight matches, its longest streak of the season. In that time, the Mean Green dropped only one set of 10 at the Tulsa Invitational en route to the tournament championship. That streak came to an end in a closely-contested four-set match.
Senior Carnae Dillard earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance over the four-match streak, and she will lead North Texas into this weekend’s action. The team captain continues to lead the conference in kills and points, and she has tallied 11 double-doubles in 16 matches this season.
