Mean Green Tallies First Conference Win

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (9/24/06) The North Texas volleyball team evened its conference record by sweeping Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday afternoon (30-27, 30-15, 30-27).

The Mean Green (10-7) was swept on Friday by Arkansas State to open up Sun Belt play.

The offense clicked early for North Texas as they recorded 20 kills in the first game and then opened up the gap by holding the Trojans (7-12) to a .079 attack percentage in the second game.

Freshman Heather Maddox recorded another double-double with 11 digs and 48 assists, good enough to tie the mark for the highest assist total in a three-game match this season.  Tara Hooser led the way with 14 kills, and Katy Prokof put up double-figure kills for the sixth consecutive match with 13 kills.

This is the fifth sweep of the season for the Mean Green.

North Texas will continue Sun Belt conference play when Western Kentucky makes the trip to Denton on Friday.  Game time is set for 7 p.m at the North Texas Volleyball Center.
