Dillard Picks Up Second C-USA Weekly Award of 2015
Senior Named Offensive POW After Tournament MVP Honors, Four-Match Win Streak
DENTON - North Texas senior Carnae Dillard has been named Conference USA’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the league office announced on Monday. This is the sixth time in her career that Dillard has won a C-USA player of the week award.
The outside hitter was once again the leader of a North Texas team that went undefeated on the week, dropping only one of 13 sets en route to the Tulsa Invitational championship. The tournament MVP enjoyed a superb hitting week as she tallied a .307 mark overall, including a .487 hitting night in the invitational’s championship match. Her kill totals against Houston Baptist (22) and Tulsa (20) rank first and third, respectively, on C-USA’s list of kills in a three-set match, and she tallied three double-doubles in the team’s four outings on the week.
Dillard shows no signs of slowing down in her final year in a Mean Green jersey. She is still the conference’s leader in points and kills, averaging 5.19 kills per set and 5.65 points per set on the year. Additionally, Dillard became North Texas’ all-time leader in attacks in the week’s first match against SFA.
Dillard & Co. now prepares to take on a Baylor Bears team that sits at 10-2 on the season. The Bears will visit the North Texas Volleyball Center for the second time since 2013 on Tuesday, with the opening serve set for 7 p.m.
