North Texas hasn't beaten the Ladyjacks since the two were Southland Conference rivals, and will have its work cut out for it when the Lady Jacks visit the Mean Green Volleyball Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Sophomore Mary Caitlin Bottles was named MVP of the Ladyjack Invitational last weekend, capping off a six-match win streak for the 11-5.
North Texas has an emerging star in Amy Huddleston. Her career-best efforts led the Mean Green volleyball team to a 1-2 record at the Bearkat Classic last weekend. The junior tallied a career-high 25 kills in the five set win over host Sam Houston State, which sealed her selection to the Bearkat Classic All-Tournament team.
NT was able to dominate at the net all weekend. North Texas tallied 16 total blocks against the Bearkats, including a career-best 11 from middle blocker Kati Dillard. In the three matches of the Classic, North Texas out-blocked its opponents 30-20, and tallied 2.7 blocks per set.
Huddleston and Dillard have found their grooves, and are now on the radar for career accolades. Huddleson now has 631 career kills, which is just 160 shy of 10th place in North Texas history. Dillard already has 52 assisted blocks this year, which is just 28 away from the top 10 list.
