North Texas Volleyball Heads To Baylor Before Opening Conference Friday

Match Notes vs. Baylor

DENTON – The North Texas volleyball team completes its four-match road trip versus Baylor on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Waco before opening conference play on Friday versus Southern Miss.

North Texas (6-8) posted a 2-1 record in the Holiday Inn Express SFA Volleyball Tournament over the weekend, with Amanda Chamberlain and Karley York being named to the All-Tournament team.

Amanda Chamberlain had another impressive showing over the weekend, logging 29 kills in 10 sets, good for a 2.9 kills per set average. The Lake Wood native continued to hit at a high percentage, posting an attack percentage of .356 (29-8-59) in the tournament. In addition to her offensive numbers, Chamberlain logged eight total blocks on the weekend.

York has turned into a double-double machine for the Mean Green, logging two on the weekend with 32 assists and 10 digs versus Incarnate Word and 58 assists and 14 digs versus Arkansas-Little Rock. Her 58 assists versus UALR marked a new career high for the sophomore from San Antonio. York posted 105 assists in 10 sets, good for a 10.5 average per set for the weekend.

The Baylor Bears (10-4) are currently on a six-match winning streak, dating back to Sept. 9. Statistically, the Bears are led by junior Katie Staiger, who leads the Big 12 in kills (262) and kills per set (5.46). As a team, the Bears are averaging 2.70 blocks per set, where the Mean Green is averaging 1.83.

North Texas is 1-2 versus Baylor over the last three meetings.
