ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mean Green volleyball team held UTEP to .083 hitting in a route of the Miners, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-21), at the UTA Hilton Invitational, setting up a showdown with the host for the tourney title.
Amy Huddleston pounded 10 kills and Sarah Willey provided 15 digs - both match highs - as the Mean Green (8-6) hit .340 as a team, easily its best mark of the year.
UTEP (7-5) managed just .038 hitting in the first frame, and wasn't much better in sets two and three. The Mean Green held the Miners to just 27 kills on the day, but committed just 10 errors of their own.
North Texas will now take on UT Arlington tonight at 7:30 for the tournament title. NT won the Jackson State Invitational championship earlier this year, it's first since 2006.
