Hulsebosch Earns Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

DENTON, Texas (9/17/07) Jessica Hulsebosch’s accolades at the Tulsa Invitational earned the senior Sun Belt Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.


Playing in a trio of three-game matches, Hulsebosch racked up three straight 20-dig performances in pacing the Mean Green (4-9) to a 2-1 weekend in Tulsa, Okla.


Hulsebosch had 66 total digs for an astonishing total of 7.33 per game. The senior recorded North Texas’ first 20-dig match of the season against Grambling, and followed that with a 20-dig effort against Tulsa. She then led NT to a sweep of NJIT with 22 digs through two games, finishing the afternoon with 26 digs.


Hulsebosch already owns the program’s single game, season and career dig records upping the all-time mark to 1,823 career digs on Saturday. On top of landing a pair of aces on the weekend, the libero had a trio of assists and a block.


After six straight road matches, the North Texas returns to the Mean Green Volleyball Center on Tuesday to face Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m. The Mean Green opens Sun Belt play at home this weekend versus UALR on Friday and Arkansas State on Sunday.
