Dillard Named C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Senior Currently Leads League In Kills, Points
DENTON - North Texas outside hitter Carnae Dillard has picked up her first weekly award of the season as the senior was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. It is the fifth time in her career that Dillard has won a C-USA player of the week award.
Dillard totaled 81 kills in 16 sets played in last week’s slate of competition, including a 27-kill outing in a win over Central Arkansas. She also willed the Mean Green to a victory over a Sooners team that was receiving top-25 votes in last weekend’s Oklahoma Nike Invitational, where she had 22 kills on .254 hitting before earning a spot on the all-tournament team. Additionally, the team captain had a double-double in each of her four matches last week.
On the season, Dillard has continued to showcase the dominance expected from C-USA’s preseason player of the year. With 5.25 kills per set, Dillard leads the league after notching 168 kills in 32 sets. She is also the conference’s points leader, tallying 5.58 points per set.
Dillard will lead the Mean Green into competition at this weekend’s North Texas Invitational. The tournament field includes Boise State, Abilene Christian and Houston.
