Big East Champs Too Tough For NT Volleyball

DENTON, Texas - The Cincinnati volleyball team used 18 kills from Missy Harpenau to top North Texas, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-15), and win the North Texas Invitational title on Saturday night.

Sarah Willey was named all-tournament for the Mean Green (3-4), which hit .211 against the defending Big East champions. The Bearcats committed 19 errors but still managed a .302 hitting percentage thanks to the setting of Caylin Mahoney, who piled up 40 assists.

Eboni Godfrey led the NT attack with 12 kills on .242 hitting, while Willey posted a match-high nine digs. The senior had 40 digs on the weekend for an average of 4.0 per set.

North Texas returns to action on Monday at 2 p.m. against rival Stephen F. Austin at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.
