WICHITA, Kan. (8/25/07) Despite eight kills from Rachel Raley, the North Texas volleyball team couldn’t overcome a sluggish start against Wichita State, falling 3-0 (22-30, 22-30, 18-30) in the Best Western Shocker Classic opener.
Raley opened the Mean Green’s season with stellar outing, but attacking errors slowed the NT offense. The Mean Green posted a hitting percentage of .009 on 115 attacks, committing 24 errors.
Heather Maddox added 21 assists in her first outing as the team’s go-to setter, and Jessica Hulsebosch added 12 digs to her school-record career total. Hulsebosch set the program’s single-game, season and career digs mark as a junior, and now sits at 1,636.
Mean Green returns to action Saturday morning against Kansas State at 11 a.m. and versus Cal Poly at 5 p.m.
