DENTON (8/22/05) -- Former North Texas standout Corina Marginas is one of 30 former Sun Belt Conference student-athletes that have been named to the league’s all-time volleyball team, announced Monday to promote the conference’s anniversary celebration as it embarks on its 30th season of athletic competition in 2005-06.
Marginas was a four-year letterwinner from 2000-04 with the Mean Green and still stands as the school’s all-time kills, attack percentage, service aces and digs leader. The Brasov, Romania, native helped lead North Texas to its first 20-win season in eight years during the 2003 season and was a four-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection.
Marginas was also the 2003 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, 2000 SBC Freshman of the Year and a 2003 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection. The former outside hitter ranks as the Sun Belt Conference’s third all-time kills leader with 2,211 to her credit.
