Volleyball To Play Green-And-White Scrimmage Saturday

DENTON  - The North Texas volleyball team is holding a green-and-white intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.

Head coach Andrew Palileo and his staff will have the athletes run through a series of drills before splitting them into teams to compete in the exhibition match.

This will mark the last unofficial match before the Mean Green open the 2016 season at the North Texas Challenge beginning on Friday, Aug. 26. North Texas' first official match is at 10:30 a.m. on Friday against Nevada.

North Texas looks to build upon its 20-13 overall record with an 11-5 showing in Conference USA in 2016.

The Mean Green enter the year with a diverse roster that features four freshmen, four sophomores, six juniors and one senior.

Saturday is an open scrimmage and is free to the public. The scrimmage will give Mean Green fans a glimpse of what to expect from the squad in the coming season.
