Report Day Marks The Beginning Of The 2016 Season

Aug. 8, 2016

DENTON - The 2016 North Texas women's volleyball season officially began today as the team met for its first meeting of the season with practice scheduled to begin tomorrow morning.

"Report Day is always an exciting time of the year," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "The anticipation of the season, taking a look at your incoming freshmen and the growth of your returners are all a part of fall camp. We are looking forward to being in the gym and beginning this journey together."

Palileo returns for his fourth season at North Texas and associate head coach Vinh Nguyen begins his second as part of the Mean Green staff. Palileo added assistant coach Kaylee Fifer to his staff in March.

The Mean Green will suit up 15-players, which includes 11 letterwinners from the 2015 squad that finished with a 20-13 record complete with an 11-5 showing in Conference USA. Four incoming freshman complete the 2016 roster.

North Texas has under 20 days left before its first match of 2016 against Nevada in the North Texas Challenge. C-USA play opens up against the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss on Sept. 23. The C-USA tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 19 in Houston.
