Dillard To Compete On Star-Studded Team At USA Volleyball Open

DENTON - Former North Texas volleyball star and assistant coach Carnae Dillard is set to compete in the 2018 USA Volleyball Open National Championships May 26-30 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.

Created in 1928, the pay-to-play event will draw more than 500 teams and 6,000 men and women of all ages, ranging from 18 to 80-plus.

Dillard is a member of #VOLLEYDREAM, which consists of multicultural former Division I players who aim to inspire and empower young minority girls to participate in the sport.

The team, which is made up of six all-americans and three members of the 2012 national champion Texas Longhorns, includes:

Khat Bell, MB/OH, Texas (2011-14) - Three-time AVCA All-American, 2012 COBRA Magazine Defensive National Player of the Year

Kaz Brown, MB, Kentucky (2014-17) - 2017 Honorable Mention AVCA All-American, three-time All-Southeast Region

Chloe Collins, S, Texas (2013-16) - Two-time AVCA All-American, fourth-most assists in program history (3,687)

Carnae Dillard, OH, North Texas (2012-15) - 2015 Honorable Mention AVCA All-American, two-time Conference USA Player of the Year

Haley Eckerman, OH, Texas (2011-14) - Two-time First Team AVCA All-American, Two-time Volleyball Magazine Player of the Year

Erin Fairs, OH, Louisville (2015)/South Florida (2012-14) - Two-time Honorable Mention AVCA All-American, 2012 Big East Freshman of the Year

Chanelle Gardner, MB, Louisiana (2013-16) - Program's career kills leader in the rally scoring era, team leader in blocks all four years of her career

Monique Harris, S, Iowa State (2014-17) - Member of USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team, compiled 2,975 assists, 87 aces, 847 digs and 77 blocks for the Cyclones

Jenelle Jordan, MB, California (2013-16) - Represented USA Volleyball at the World University Games, led the Bears in blocks in 2015 (91) and 2016 (93)

Sha'Dare McNeal, UT, Texas (2009-12) - 2012 AVCA All-Central Region, Named to the 2012 NCAA All-Tournament Team after leading the Longhorns to a national championship

Allegra Wells, OH, Mississippi (2009-12) - Finished third in block assists and fifth in kills in progam history in the rally scoring era, also competed for the Rebels' track and field team

The team is one of five squads in the women's open division, which will conduct round-robin pool play from May 26-27 before the bracket-style play begins on May 28.
