Palileo Announces 2017 Volleyball Schedule
North Texas To Host Two Tournaments
2017 Volleyball Schedule
DENTON – North Texas volleyball head coach Andrew Palileo announced the 2017 schedule on Wednesday, a slate that offers three home matches to kick off the fall.
“I'm excited about our schedule because it provides us with both challenges and opportunities,” Palileo said. “We have several Power Five conference matches in Oklahoma, Oregon State and Mississippi State that will allow us to see where we are as a team heading into the conference season.”
Palileo’s squad opens 2017 with the North Texas Invitational – the first of four tournaments the Mean Green will compete in – against Tulsa, Prairie View A&M and Montana. The Mean Green will also host the North Texas Challenge from Sept. 8-9, which will feature Oregon State, a member of the Pac-12 Conference.
The Boston College Tournament from Sept. 1-2 and the Mississippi State Tournament from Sept. 15-16 make up the bulk of the non-conference slate, but the Mean Green will host Big 12 foe Oklahoma on Sept. 27.
North Texas opens Conference USA play on Sept. 22 against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and will complete its first conference road trip against FIU in Miami on Sept. 24.
The Mean Green begin C-USA play in Denton on Sept. 29 against UTSA and will also play host to three-time defending C-USA champion Western Kentucky on Nov. 9.
The conference tournament is slated for Nov. 17-19 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
“We've had a great spring season seeing players improve individually on the court and in the classroom,” Palileo added. “Our team culture, led by our four seniors, will make this team fun to watch and we can't wait to get started.”
