Meet Katie & Tayler, Fall Volleyball Signees
Meet Two More Volleyball Impact Freshmen
With spring camp in the rear view mirror the North Texas volleyball program is switching its focus to the fall season. That means it’s time to meet the newcomers who will be making a difference for the Mean Green in August.
On Monday you got a chance to meet Kaci Eaton and Carnae Dillard, so today we’re going to introduce you to future Mean Green standouts - Katie Dudding and Tayler Whittington.
Katie Dudding - OH - Randall High School
Dudding and Randall High School won the state title during her sophomore year, and she helped lead Randall back to the state semifinals last weekend, where she tallied six blocks. Just the second Randall graduate to sign with a Division I school, Dudding was also member of the 2011-12 Under Armour All-America Watch List.
North Texas head coach Ken Murczek – “Katie is an undersized front row player with a huge vertical jump and a fast arm. She has shown versatility at playing both in the middle and the outside at the state championship level. I feel she has the potential to be extremely successful at this level both in the front and back rows.”
Tayler Whittington - MB - Sherman HS
Whittington, the leading scorer and blocker for Sherman High School, was named the 2011 District 13-4A “MVP Blocker” following her senior season. She was also named first-team all-district as a junior. The multisport star, who owns a near 30-inch vertical, earned honorable mention all-district honors for the Lady Cats basketball team, and stars in multiple track events.
Murczek – “Tayler is such an amazing athlete, and possesses everything we look for in a recruit. I think her potential in college volleyball is through the roof and I look forward to developing her skills over the next few years.”
