Mean Green Volleyball Gearing Up For Trio Of Metroplex Rivals This Spring
DENTON, Texas (3/22/10) - New head coach Ken Murczek will get to show off his new-look Mean Green volleyball team in three upcoming spring matches, including this weekend's opener at UT Arlington.
Wasting no time in taking on the Metroplex's best, North Texas will also head to SMU on April 10 and TCU on April 17. This Saturday's match at UT Arlington is slated for 9 a.m.
"We are excited to put the jerseys on for the first time since the fall," Murczek said. "We will be competing against other quality universities and it will give us some great tests this spring."
Murczek took over the reins of the North Texas volleyball program in January, and brings a pedigree of winning at every level of competition. The former Kansas and Virginia assistant coach won national championships as a player at Arizona, and even played professionally in Europe.
The Mean Green is slated to return over 90 percent of its kills from last year's squad, including one of the program's all-time top attackers in Amy Huddleston.
