Get To Know Courtney Windham




Courtney Windham, a junior volleyball player, is next up in February's Get To Know Your Mean Green Student-Athlete. Click on the video to meet Courtney.

Courtney was named first-team all-conference in 2012. In what can only be described as one of the finest seasons in school history, the North Texas volleyball team tied the school record for wins at 26, advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament finals for the first time and claimed its second SBC West Division title in three years in the 2012 season.

North Texas 2012
First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference … All-Sun Belt Tournament team selection … Led the Sun Belt and ranked 40th in the nation with 1.28 blocks per set … Shattered the school record for single-season assisted blocks with 132, and her total blocks tally of 170 ranks 3rd in NT history … Ranked in the top 250 in the NCAA in points per set (No. 148 at 3.96), hitting percentage (No. 173 at .305) and kills per set (No. 247 at 3.11) … .305 attack percentage ranked 8th in the Sun Belt Conference and ranked 7th in NT history for a single season … 3.11 kills per set ranked 7th in the SBC … Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1 … Posted 20 matches of at least five blocks, including a career-best 11 blocks in just three sets at Arkansas State – the most by any Sun Belt player in a three-setter in 2012 … Key player in NT’s run to a school-record tying 26 wins, second SBC West Division title in three years and the program’s first ever trip to the SBC Tourney finals … North Texas Invitational tournament MVP … Also earned all-tournament team nods at IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational and the Mean Green Invitational.

North Texas 2011
Ranked third on the team with 250 kills (2.27 per set ranked fourth) ... Led the Mean Green with eight solo blocks ... Also third at NT with 43 total blocks (0.39 blocks per set) ... Posted 15 kills on .609 hitting against Texas Southern - the second highest attack percentage by NT in ‘11 ... 19 kills against Kennessaw State tied for third most by an NT player ... Started 19 matches, but appeared in all 34 matches ... Mean Green Volleyball Classic All-Tournament team after racking up 45 kills (5.0 per set) in the three matches ... Posted three clutch kills in the crunch time of the UTA win ... Tallied 10 double-digit kill matches.

Baylor 2010
Saw action in two matches - Jacksonville and the Sun Belt’s Florida Atlantic … Tallied one attack on the year … Was a part of a Baylor team that ranked No. 3 nationally in digs per set, and finished sixth overall in the Big 12 standings.

Cy-Creek High School
Helped Cy-Creek to the District 15-5A title as a freshman and a berth in the playoffs each of the next three seasons … Earned All-America honors as a sophomore and a senior by Prepvolleyball.com … Named to the Under Armour Preseason All-America list as a senior … Member of the USAV High Performance A-1 Team in 2008 and the USAV Women’s Junior National A-2 team in 2009 … Earned Lone Star all-state honors as a junior and senior … Served as the team captain as a senior, while earning four varsity letters in volleyball ... Was ranked in the top 115 in the nation by Prep Volleyball as a Senior Ace.
