Godfrey Earns COBRA All-America Honors
Freshman, Eboni Godfrey, Adds Cobra Magazine All-America To Resume
DENTON, Texas – After a standout freshman season, North Texas outside hitter Eboni Godfrey was named to the COBRA Magazine Honorable Mention All-National volleyball team.
COBRA Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African as well as Samoan and Tongan descent in hopes of encouraging young girls of those ethnic groups across the country to pursue the sport.
This is the second COBRA award for Godfrey, who also earned All-Southwest Region honors from the publication. Godfrey, who became the first NT freshman to earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors since Corina Marginas in 2000, made her presence felt at the SBC Tournament with 4.14 kills per set on .247 hitting, and also became just the fourth NT player to ever earn All-Sun Belt Tournament honors.
Godfrey was instrumental in helping the Mean Green upset No. 3 seed Arkansas State with a double-double in the tournament quarterfinals, and led NT offensively in the semifinals against No. 2 Middle Tennessee.
The Mean Green finished the year at 17-17, which gives North Texas back-to-back seasons of .500 or better for the first time since the founding of the program in 1976 and 1977.
