MURFREESBORO, Tn. - The North Texas volleyball team completed its regular season conference schedule with a straight-set sweep of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Gym.

"We came out with good energy today and we wanted to establish our middles right away," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "Amanda and Jordyn had a great match today offensively and Amy did a great job of locating them."

Amanda Chamberlain led North Texas with 14 kills and Jordyn Williams had nine. The duo combined to hit .719 in the match. Amy Henard recorded 38 assists in the victory.

The Mean Green earned victories in sets one and two with identical scores of 25-20. MT threatened to send the match to a fourth set, but a 10-3 run from North Texas gave it a 25-23 victory to end the match in three sets.

"The third set was good for the team," Palileo added. "We got behind and faced some adversity, but they worked through it as a team and pulled it out. I thought we played well this weekend and it was a good way to end the regular season conference schedule."

The opening frame was controlled by the Mean Green (13-16, 7-7 C-USA) until the late stages when MT had North Texas on its heels. With the Mean Green leading, 22-12, the Blue Raiders went on an 8-2 run to cut a 10-point deficit to four. Several Mean Green attack errors and blocking errors fueled the run, but Holly Milam ended the run and the set, 25-20, in favor of the Mean Green. Williams, Milam and Chamberlain combined for 12 kills in the frame.

In similar fashion, North Texas opened a 4-1 lead on MT (5-24, 2-12 C-USA) in set two, but MT continued to chip away at the North Texas lead and got within one at 8-7. North Texas pulled away, gaining a five-point lead on the Blue Raiders, but another rally got MT within two after a service ace and a kill by Regan Coughlin.

The Mean Green regained their five-point edge behind kills from Milam and Chamberlain, but MT made a late push, cutting the deficit to two at 21-19. North Texas went on a 4-1 run to end the set, taking set two 25-20.

MT grabbed its first lead of the match, 5-4, in the third set. The Blue Raiders would turn that into a 10-7 advantage on a kill by Coughlin. North Texas evened the set at 10 on a kill from BrynCaitlin Walker and two more from Milam.
