DENTON-The Mean Green swept Florida International in dominant fashion on Sunday (25-17, 25-17, 27-25), en route to its third consecutive victory. The win streak is the longest North Texas has enjoyed since a seven game streak back in early September.

"When you win a big game like that on Friday night, we had to see our team would respond in today's match," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "I think we responded well, even though we let some points go to FIU, especially in the third set."

The Mean Green jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into intermission after two identical dominating performances in sets one and two. North Texas, allowed FIU to take their first lead of the match late in the third set, but still managed to pull of the sweep in a close two point victory.

The offensive success was sparked by sophomore setter Amy Henard, who turned out an impressive performance with 39 assists and 7 digs on her 20th birthday today. Henard's assist tally against FIU passes two more former players and slides her into the fifth spot on the North Texas all-time career assists list with 1,974 in only her second season of play.

"Amy did a great job today leading our team," Palileo added. "We hit over .300 [as a team] in the first set, and the hitting percentage is a direct representative of her setting choices. She did a good job of that overall."

North Texas notched its 75th program victory inside the North Texas Volleyball Center with the sweep, improving its overall record to 75-48 (.610) at home since the gym's opening in 2006. The Mean Green is an incredible 34-9 in front of a home crowd over the course of the last three years.

"This is a great place to play-I love playing in here-and I know the players love playing here," Palileo concluded. "It's a tough environment for our opponents to come in here and try to pull a match off."

North Texas (15-9, 6-5 C-USA) returns to action on Friday, Oct. 31, when it takes on Middle Tennessee (7-17, 3-7 C-USA) in Murfreesboro at 7 p.m. The Mean Green will face a hungry Blue Raider squad, on Halloween night, that currently sits in a three way tie for the eighth and final spot in the Conference USA tournament field.
