NT Volleyball Crushes Charlotte On Dig Pink Night
#MGVB Sweeps Charlotte, Moves to 4-1 in C-USA Play
DENTON, Texas - The Mean Green volleyball team came out strong and defended its court on its annual Dig Pink night with a 3-0 sweep of Charlotte.
"With the dig pink night and all that was going on, our players really wanted to have a great showing because it's a great cause," associate head coach Al Givens said. "I think the key was the first set where we fought them off a few times late to win it."
North Texas struggled early with an abnormal amount of self-inflicted mistakes including 14 service errors before the match had ended. Charlotte saw a window in the first set and stuffed the Mean Green on three different NT set points, but North Texas regained its footing to sneak out the first set.
Charlotte, now 0-5 in conference play, never truly threatened in the final two sets, resulting in the Mean Green's eighth sweep of the season.
Sophomore Carnae Dillard, who was playing for her mother, Mama Dillard, on the special night, led NT in kills with 14. She is one kill shy of cracking the NT all-time top 10 in career kills.
