Mean Green End Road Trip With A Win
North Texas Defeats UAB 3-1
BIRMINGHAM, Ala – North Texas volleyball won its second consecutive road match with a 3-1 victory over UAB Friday (25-16, 18-25, 25-15,25-13).
The Mean Green (9-11, 3-2 C-USA) concluded their three match road trip. North Texas’ Alexis Wright led the way for the Mean Green with 17 kills on just 23 attempts (.652 percent). Sophomore Karley York continued her hot streak at the setter position with 48 assists – the second most assists she’s had this season.
“I like the way we came out in sets one, three and four,” head coach Andrew Palileo said. “Our focus, intensity and execution really dictated the match. Set two we came out and took a breath and UAB did a good job taking advantage of it.”
In three of the Mean Green’s last four matches, York has had at least 38 assists. Against Arkansas Little Rock on Sept. 17, York set a career-high with 58 assists.
“Offensively, Karley York really did a good job of spreading the ball around while maintaining our overall game plan,” Palileo said. “It was a good team effort on the road today.”
North Texas doesn’t play again until Oct. 14 when it hosts UTEP at 7 p.m. It will be the start of a three-match home stand for the Mean Green.
