No. 20 WKU Tops Mean Green Volleyball

Box Score

DENTON, Texas - Courtney Windham and Carnae Dillard teamed up for 12 and 11 kills, respectively, but a powerful outing from No. 20 Western Kentucky was too much for the North Texas volleyball team (25-16, 25-18, 25-21).

The Hilltoppers (19-3, 5-0 Sun Belt East) hit .407 as a team, which is the highest ever by a North Texas (17-7, 3-2 Sun Belt West) opponent in the Mean Green Volleyball Center. WKU's Paige Wessel landed 12 kills on .632 hitting - just shy of the facility record of .652.

Two of the Sun Belt's top blocking units showed their prowess on Friday. The Mean Green, who entered the match with a league-high 2.67 blocks per set, sent back 7.5 blocks on the evening, including five from Karissa Flack. WKU posted 10 blocks on the night thanks in large part to seven blocks from Noelle Langenkamp.

The North Texas offense got more efficient as the night progressed, culminating in a .211 attack percentage in the third set. Still, it was too little too late for a Mean Green squad that hit .138 overall.

The Mean Green will take on Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 1 p.m.
