NT Escapes Hattiesburg With A Win, Remains Unbeaten In C-USA
#MGVB Unleashes Furious Comeback To Topple Golden Eagles, Next Up Is Tulsa
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mean Green volleyball team came back from behind to keep its undefeated conference record intact on the road in a five-set affair against Southern Miss.
“I thought our girls battled hard tonight,” head coach Andrew Palileo said. “We fought through adversity as a team with everyone contributing at some point during the match.”
North Texas split the first two sets with Southern Miss before being put behind the proverbial eight ball following a lopsided third-set loss to the Golden Eagles. But the Mean Green stormed back in what was a match of runs and sustained momentum by both clubs with each set being won by a large margin.
“Southern Miss did a great job of making us take extra swings with their defense,” coach Palileo continued. “We are happy to get out of here with a win.”
The victory came during the Golden Eagle’s “Dig Pink” match, an event that North Texas will host next week against Charlotte.
Junior Addason Lamb saw three sets of action and turned in an eight-dig performance, tying her season high.
As a team, North Texas saw its second-highest kill total of the season with 67.
Stat of the Night
